Scabbard Cover for the Type 95 Sword

During the provisional pattern stage, the Type 95 Sword scabbard cover was treated as an accessory item, in the same way as the sword knot. However, it was deleted when the sword was formally standardized, making it something of a phantom item.

Because no detailed historical sources survive, the precise specifications are unknown. It is believed, however, that it was made from waterproof cotton cloth in a color similar to that of the scabbard itself. Based on this assumption, I used canvas in a color close to the scabbard and constructed this piece with reference to the structure of officer’s sword scabbard covers for the finer details. For more information, please see the linked article.

Measurements were taken using a PK Militaria replica Type 95 Sword, and each piece is finished while test-fitting against the actual item. Accordingly, compatibility with other replicas or original swords cannot be guaranteed.

Even as replicas, Type 95 Swords are not inexpensive. When used in outdoor games, the scabbard can quickly become scratched and damaged, so I hope this cover will be useful for protecting it.

The product consists only of the scabbard cover shown in the first photograph. The Type 95 Sword itself and any other items shown are for reference only and are not included.
