This is a replica of the scabbard cover for the Type 30 Bayonet.
In actual wartime use, various versions were manufactured by different units to protect the scabbard and to reduce noise and light reflection.

The Windlass-made replica bayonet has a somewhat unnatural scabbard shape, but attaching this cover greatly improves its appearance and realism—making it a truly practical item in both form and function.

While simple in design, this cover conveys a sense of authenticity and attention to detail, making it highly recommended for those new to collecting or wearing Japanese military gear.

When used in outdoor airsoft games or reenactments, the cover may gradually fray or develop small holes. However, historical photographs of actual soldiers often show their equipment in well-worn condition—so feel free to use it without hesitation.

A Bayonet Retention Stopper is also included as part of the set.

During crawling or extended field use, there were cases where the bayonet’s hook would catch on vegetation and fall off without the soldier noticing. For this reason, it appears that many units created and attached simple homemade stoppers like this one to prevent loss.

To use it, as shown in image 4, tie the cord to a buckle and insert the wooden peg through the scabbard hole to secure it.
This is especially effective with Windlass-made replicas, which tend to have loose-fitting scabbards. It also functions as a useful safety measure during airsoft games or reenactments.

About the Size

This item is designed to fit the Windlass-made replica scabbard for the Type 30 bayonet.
Since the Windlass scabbard has a prominent protrusion at the tip, the cover has been made with enough room to accommodate that shape.

I personally own several original bayonet scabbards, and each one differs slightly in thickness.
Some are identical in size to the Windlass version, while others are slightly slimmer.
Please refer to the following measurements to ensure compatibility:

• Scabbard Length: Approx. 40 cm
  This is measured from the bottom edge of the mounting bracket (used to attach the scabbard) to the tip of the scabbard. (See Photo #2 for reference.)
  Since the base is hidden by the bracket, a scabbard that is about 1 cm longer should still fit without issue.

• Scabbard Thickness: Approx. 75 mm circumference at the base
  If your scabbard is thinner than this, it will fit without problem.
  If it is thicker, the cover may not fit.
