I made paper box assembly kits for the Type 14 Nambu ammunition by Dekunobo. I apologize for introducing it here, but unfortunately, this paper box kits are already sold out. Well… to be honest, I bought up all of Dekunobo’s last stock…

Assembly is done following the instructions on Dekunobo’s blog, and it takes about 15 minutes to complete one. Since the empty boxes seemed like they could be crushed during airsoft games, I decided to fill them with something.

Things to Prepare

  • Dekunobo’s paper box assembly kit.
  • 10 pieces of fishing sinkers (size 4)

The actual Nambu rounds weigh 10.9g each, so for 15 rounds, it would be 163.5g. Fishing sinkers in size 4 weigh approximately 15 grams each, so putting in 11 of them would be close to the approximate weight of 165g.

This time, I bought sinkers from an online shop, but it was difficult to purchase the awkward quantity of 11, so I compromised and bought a set of 10 instead.

Box Assembly

First, assemble the main body of the paper box. Follow the instructions provided by Dekunobo, and the assembly should be straightforward.

Once the box is assembled, start filling it with the fishing sinkers. Pack them vertically just like bullets, and fill any gaps with small pieces of styrofoam board to prevent the sinkers from moving.

Finally, seal the lid shut with tape to complete the assembly. I made three boxes in total.

Since the fishing sinkers resemble the shape of actual bullets with their cylindrical form, shaking the box gives a satisfying feel, similar to that of real ammunition.

Storing in Pistol Pouch

I immediately tried putting it in the replica Type 14 pistol holster. I have both an early type pistol holster made by HIKISHOP and a late type pistol holster of unknown manufacturer.

The result is… neither of them fit properly. Both pockets are slightly too narrow, and the ammunition boxes don’t fit all the way in. Dekunobo tried it as well, but it seems like the pockets need to be remade.
