This is a BB pellet storage bottle modeled after the Type 91 Hand Grenade of the Imperial Japanese Army.
It is made entirely of resin and contains no explosive materials of any kind. It is intended solely as a toy and display item.
I 3D scanned a deactivated authentic Type 91 Hand Grenade and used the data as the basis for my own original design and production.
Key Features
- The authentic piece was measured using an industrial metrology-grade 3D scanner capable of capturing surface details a fraction of the width of a human hair. Every dimension, subtle surface contour, and rounded edge has been faithfully reproduced.
- The surface has been carefully finished with putty and sanding, then painted to closely match the texture of the authentic piece.
- In addition to its practical use as a BB bottle, it also makes an excellent prop for photography.

- Made from ABS resin, which offers high heat resistance, so there is little risk of deformation even if left in a car on a hot summer day.
- In the unlikely event of damage, it can be repaired with standard plastic model cement (such as Tamiya Cement).
Before Use (Please Read)
About Dispensing BB Pellets
- As the design prioritizes accuracy to the authentic piece, BB pellets do not flow out very smoothly.
- Overfilling may prevent pellets from coming out of the spout. For best results, fill to about 80% capacity and gently shake the bottle while dispensing.
About the Cap
- A bayonet-style latch is used instead of a screw thread, allowing the cap to be opened and closed quickly.
- To remove the cap, rotate it 90 degrees counterclockwise and pull it off.
About the Safety Pin
- The safety pin can be removed and reinserted, but as the design prioritizes visual accuracy over strength, frequent removal and reinsertion may cause damage. Please handle it with care.
About Throwing
- Please do not throw this item, as it may break.
Handling and Storage
The fourth image is a comparison photo, with the authentic grenade used as the reference on the right.
As you can see, it would be nearly impossible for someone unfamiliar with military items to tell them apart by appearance alone.
In recent years, there have been reported cases in Japan of people discovering deactivated authentic grenades or grenade-shaped toys and reporting them to the police or the Self-Defense Forces.
Outside of airsoft games and militaria events, please take care when storing and transporting this item so that it is not visible to others.
